This year’s HGTV Dream Home celebrates its 25th anniversary, and the house is located in scenic Newport, Rhode Island. It’s such a dreamy location and the design takes inspiration from the Newport mansions, especially in the exterior design with coastal shingles and grey hardscaping materials from Belgard®. Designed by Brian Patrick Flynn, the house takes the year’s most significant design stories and brings them to life in creative ways in each room, from using Sherwin-Williams colors of the year to incorporating lots of outdoor living areas for backyard gatherings.
In Terrace Drive Project, I’ve mainly been making changes to the surfaces in the apartment like the new paint colors and area rugs, but in the dark green bedroom, I got to introduce some new furniture to the mix to really polish up the space. I turned to AllModern for mid-century-inspired design that would complement the existing headboard and sourced the perfect nightstands, lumbar pillow, and unique artwork for the room. I also found a great flush mount light fixture for a much-needed upgrade from the cheap “boob light” in the center of the ceiling. This bedroom feels so handsome and grown-up now, full of stylish accent pieces! “TERRACE DRIVE PROJECT: DARK GREEN BEDROOM REVEAL WITH ALLMODERN”

I’m excited to share a new, accessible art collection on Kevin Francis Design: mixed-media collages. These collages, inspired by the juxtaposition of interiors and greenery, combine photography, drawing, and painting. You’ll find layers of detail in each collage, which bring together some of my favorite things. These original art prints are available both framed and unframed, and I’m excited to bring this affordable price point to my selection of original artwork for KFD. Available in a selection of five stylish frames, you can get a sophisticated, ready-to-hang piece for your walls. See the collection “virtually styled” in some beautiful interiors below… “NEW FROM KEVIN FRANCIS DESIGN: MIXED-MEDIA COLLAGE ART PRINTS”
Designer Sean Anderson brought a contemporary elegance to this traditional Memphis colonial-style home using a subtle color palette and an eye for editing the owners’ antiques and art collections to reveal an airier, lighter touch throughout the home. Anderson had the shutters painted on the home’s facade for a tone-on-tone look, bleached the hardwood floors, enveloped the rooms in warm white paint, and reupholstered existing furniture. While the kitchen was given an entirely modern renovation, the warm wood tones in the design create a ntural transition to more traditional spaces in the house. A lot has changed in Terrace Drive Project since I added the beautiful paint colors in the living room and bedroom, and another important surface has now been covered with the addition of these vintage-inspired area rugs from Mohawk Home. Since Murphy’s apartment has tile throughout the space, the addition of rugs to define each area and soften the rooms was key to making the space feel homier. These beautiful rugs have classic vintage designs with lighter color palettes to keep the rooms bright. Get a first look at the colorful apartment design and see what both of these new rugs add to each room below! “TERRACE DRIVE PROJECT: VINTAGE-INSPIRED MOHAWK HOME AREA RUGS”
