Although the holiday season may be over with the start of the new year, I’ve got a couple weeks before I have to go back to school, and I’ve been enjoying the extra time in town with my family. One of my favorite holiday traditions (especially to ring in the New Year) is having game night with my family, so when World Market invited me to share a game night on the blog, I was definitely up for the task! My family has a soft spot for the retro-style games, so their Sorry board game with the original artwork from 1939 caught my eye first. Along with an easy selection of canapés, sparkling rosehip grape juice, and entertaining essentials, we made a chic spread for enjoying a fun night in.
Whether you’re hosting a game night for family or for friends, it’s easy to make it a festive occasion by putting together a tray of canapés from World Market’s snacks – just try to include at least one of each: meet, cheese, spread, and crackers. I love this piquillo pepper bruschetta, and these rosemary crackers will go with just about anything. It’s also easy to add some sparkle to the table with fun glasses, like these champagne flutes that I included in my food-lovers gift basket. They dress up any drink! Lastly, provide easy seating by setting the game on a coffee table beside the sofa, and have floor pillows and poufs nearby for extra seats.
Using a retro game adds just a touch more style to the event, with the throwback style of the game that looks so classic. It fits perfectly with an elegant selection of hors d’oeuvres for a chic event without any effort.
Do you host any holiday traditions each year?
Your game nights are classy and I love it! When I go home to visit we have game nights with food and stuff but not as classy. lol
