It’s week two of this virtual round of the One Room Challenge (catch up on my project introduction here), and I’m sharing an inside look at the loft that’s inspiring my space and diving into the design direction for this living and dining room. As I explained last week, this round is completely virtual so I picked a dream Atlanta loft destination in the Fulton Cotton Mill Lofts (also known as “The Stacks”), for a light-filled industrial space that provides a historic canvas for the design. I’ll be scouring new introductions from High Point Market to pull together a sophisticated design with my signature “new Southern” mix of traditional and contemporary. See the rooms inspiring the style and palette for the room below!
Above is the exterior of The Stacks, and as you can see the windows on this building are amazing! I pulled three interior shots below to give you a sense of what the inside of my room will look like, with brick around the windows and cool concrete floors.
With so much texture and patina already built into the architecture of the room, I’m taking an edited, tone-on-tone approach to the design. I’m leaning into creams and tans for the upholstery but planning on bringing in pops of red for a warm, Euro-inspired take on neutrals. I want the loft to feel like it could be in New York, New Orleans, Paris, or Milan!
