Sophisticated Melbourne Abode

Happy Monday friends! It was absolutely balmy today (59 degrees) and I had a great day – I felt focused and productive, which is such a terrific feeling! I’m also hoping that tomorrow’s forecast will hold true and we will get some snow! Yeah yeah, Atlanta rarely gets snow… But when we do it’s a big deal! Anyhoo this week I’m sharing the sophisticated family home of fashion designer Penelope Loorham. She’s compiled textures from her travels to intermingle with a fresh assortment of classics and a balanced palette.

I did get a sense of déjà vu as I read the description of this home, because I have posted a different Australian abodes in earlier Monday interior inspiration posts… I guess there is just an abundance of great taste there!

Black is a color I tend to avoid, but Penelope uses it to a great effect with the black bistro chairs flanking the dining table and the headboard, dresser, and lampshade in the bedroom. Because there’s copious neutrals the black doesn’t subdue the rooms but rather adds more depth to their palettes. Pretty fabulous, am I right?
