I was invited by CarpetOne to assemble a moodboard with their “Twenty for 2020” top flooring products for the year. I had so much fun visualizing the flooring trends for the year and incorporating my favorites into a physical mood board on my kitchen island. I mixed in other inspiring objects, fabrics, and a few Pantone color chips to pull it all together. It’s so helpful as a designer to think about where design is headed for the year, and these top flooring products from CarpetOne are pretty spot on. I added a carpet (Passages by Tigressá Bright Future in Marina), some beautiful luxury vinyl plank in a natural, light stain (Invincible H2O West Barclay in Delightful & Charlestone Place in Pure Beauty), and a versatile grey tile with a fabric-like texture (Bel Terra Fabric Art Modern Textile Medium Gray). Explore all 20 flooring products here for some inspiration for your next design project, and see my moodboard details below!

I love to add unexpected elements like pieces of jewelry to a moodboard, to bring in texture and personality. This shell bracelet adds a gold tone and a beachy look inspired by a natural object. The found-object concept is something that is huge in design right now, and many sculptural pieces are taking the shape of animals or plants.

While Pantone’s color of the year is a deep blue, these light, versatile neutrals play off of the idea of a “nude” color that is huge right now. It moves from the millennial pink trend to something with a natural base that’s easy to incorporate into any setting.

I had so much fun assembling this physical moodboard, and love how it’s inspiring my projects right now. I can’t wait to see more of these material trends and see how interior design evolves over the year! Make sure to check out all of the top 20 flooring products for 2020 on the CarpetOne website.
