Although the weather is still hot in Atlanta, schools are starting again, signaling a change in routines (and soon enough, a change in the weather). I love to embrace these seasonal shifts with changes around the house, like our recent additions to the living room or a fresh table setting with a whimsical mix of patterns. I channeled an eclectic, collected look on this tablescape with Ikat napkins and patterned bowls from Cost Plus World Market, and brought in a touch of the unexpected to the simple arrangement of daisies – colorful butterflies. Although the table setting is simple, it sings with elements of surprise that will surely inspire interesting conversation or delight dinner party guests during the new season. I also love how much interest you can pack onto a small space dining table. It just shows that small can be just as stylish! Get all the details on this table setting below.
These porcelain bowls come in an assorted set of patterns and have a speckled interior that gives them lots of character. They bring a collected sensibility to the table which adds some layers to the simple white plates. Their fine lines create a great complement to the thick blue rim of the water glasses, which bring another pop of color to the white table.
The butterflies bring a real sense of energy to the white daisies as they extend from the arrangement at every angle. They’re a touch quirky but they’re bright colors are pared down by the simplicity in the rest of the tablescape.
It’s always fun to put together a table to celebrate a change in your routine or a change in the season, and I tried to give this one a natural, easy-going look that shows how fun it can be to mix unexpected elements you may have in your own home. And if you live in a small space, make sure to check out World Market’s guide to small space living! Don’t be afraid to mix different colors and patterns, and make sure to head to your local store to find the beautiful items on this table (and more) to refresh your own kitchen and dining supplies. I shopped at their Buckhead store but you can find the one closest to you with their store finder. I’m especially excited about their small space furniture collection – check out how Nicole Curtis uses their chic new bar cart in this fun video:
