Desk Inspiration & A Room Refresh!

I’m excited to announce a little design project I’ve been working on, a refresh for my bedroom and desk! I’m updating my room’s aesthetic with lighter colors and some more contemporary pieces. Check out my inspiration (and product moodboard) below…

This desk offers inspiration in its simplicity. I want to simplify my desk to help improve my productivity and focus, and I also want to simplify my whole room and keep the space light and bright with lots of white, and bits of inspiration here and there like the typography on the wall above this desk! I also love the little green bouquet beside the computer.

I saw this desk float through my Pinterest feed after I had decided on a ghost Louis chair to pair with my visually heavier desk, and I was excited to see how successful this pairing can be! I am excited about this desk chair because its transparency will make my room feel less crowded, and it’s traditional shape will go nicely with my desk.

Emily Henderson’s home office transformation was really a trigger for my sudden urge for a room redesign. I fell in love with the ease at which Emily transformed this space into a beautiful and bright office. The brass swing light above the desk provides nice warm tones to contrast the white desk and chair. I am a big believer in having some nice green plants on your desk (as you might already know), and I am hoping to use my paint dipped jars to the same use at these planters in the photo.

My shopping list included some new white frames (to replace black ones), a Moroccan rug (which I got on sale and am especially excited about), a ghost Louis chair (the cheapest one on the interwebs, fingers crossed the quality is not atrocious), some West Elm pillows (to throw on my chair or bed) which are also on sale(!) and that wonderful Ikea task light, which I am hoping will be in stock soon! I also got these Anthropologie knobs for my shuttered closet doors.

Also, I am very excited to say that I won a contest! I won a Lief platform mattress from Modernica, a very cool store for modern furniture – I especially love their fiberglass shell chairs. It’s going to arrive just in time to be part of my new room, and I can’t wait to enjoy the luxury of a Queen-sized bed after 16 years in a Twin!
