The most frequently asked question I get is “how do you manage to balance your blog and being a student?”, and there’s definitely a lot to unpack for me to answer that question – but it’s true that balancing my last two years of high school, and now college, with my blog has always been challenging! I asked my good friend Alana to have a little conversational interview with me about balancing school and work, along with our favorite LIFEWTR bottles to inspire our chat. We talked about staying inspired and I even gave some tips for how I maximize my efficiency while blogging on the go.
Being away from home is such a big influence on my blog and work, so I also wanted to share some scenes around Cornell and in Ithaca to show my different surroundings during the academic year, tying perfectly into the theme of the LIFEWTR bottle designs, “Arts in Education,” which is working to bring art back into schools. There’s a lot of inspiring scenery around Ithaca, like dramatic gorges and waterfalls. We are itching to get outdoors once spring rolls around (a couple months later than down South), and so it was fun for Alana and I to explore some of the popular views both on and off campus in-between studying for our last final exams. When we sat down in my dorm room to talk, we covered inspiration and productivity, plus a little bit about the differences between my life at school and at home. I am so thrilled to finally share something more personal and behind-the-scenes with you!
When it comes to balancing personal vs. professional, or any other dueling forces in your life, I think it really boils down to passion and discipline, and making sure you make time to recharge and gain perspective! Heading outside never ceases to re-inspire me, especially when I’m spending long hours working hard on my computer. Whether I’m up at Cornell searching for waterfalls or taking the dog for a walk in Atlanta, I usually find myself more focused and productive after reorganizing my thoughts.
