Traditional entryway in New Orleans with gold mirror and zebra rug on Thou Swell @thouswellblog(via Architectural Digest, photography by Pieter Estersohn)

In a historic Greek Revival residence in New Orleans with a beautiful pink stucco facade, a young real estate developer and his wife took a modern twist to Big Easy decorating with architect and designer Lee Ledbetter. In a city known for its plentiful antiques, the interiors of this landmark home show a sleek blend of old and new with modernist touches that bring levity to the home’s traditional architecture. I love the classical elements maintained in the design, like full, pleated curtains and gilded mirrors above the fireplaces. With such a strong foundation, mid-century furniture and modern accents make a great addition to the design. Don’t miss the dramatic grey bedroom below and the historic cistern that still stands by the courtyard pool.
