The West Midtown project living room is finally feeling like a polished, cohesive space thanks to some stunning new modern additions from one of my favorite furniture stores, Article. You might remember the amazing sectional that defines my apartment seating area from the same company. I knew their high-quality, modern furniture would be the best counterpoints to my mom’s antiques and their Fall/Winter 2020 collection did not disappoint. Not only did I find the perfect sofa and armchair for this room, but I also accented with a handsome mirror, planter, and side table to pull the space together with some beautiful textures. See how it all came together below!
P.S. Don’t miss Article’s Black Friday sale, happening now until November 30th!
After moving, the white velvet cushions from the Dove Hill living room sofa was looking a little worse for the wear. We sent this piece over to my older sister’s new house in Houston, and started searching for a new sofa that would fit the new living room better. It needed to be on the longer side but have a contemporary frame. My mom also prefers legs versus a block frame, and we knew a darker color would be a good idea with our Leopold spending the weekends here.
It was hard to choose between all of the sofa styles on Article’s website, but I loved the idea of with a darker color in here to emphasize the jewel-toned palette, and as much as I love velvet, I knew these pieces needed a less-textured fabric to let the reupholstered chaise shine on its own. I spotted the Abisko sofa and instantly fell in love with it’s low profile, sleek titanium legs, and the Aurora Blue fabric.
The little indoor olive tree was a birthday present for my mom this year, and it needed a nice pot to really make it a part of this room! As you know the kitchen countertops are now terrazzo, so the Tuva planter with a terrazzo-style composite was a perfect choice. It sits in front of the Beau leaning mirror, which has black leather straps and a walnut frame. It fits so perfectly into this room, and I’m in love with the luxe details!
The matching Abisko armchair was a natural choice for the opposite corner in the room, and I love how it emphasizes the color as a thread through the whole room. It has the jauntiest little shape and is so comfortable, with a plush feather-mix filling! It’s my mom’s favorite place to curl up and read in the evening.
The room needed a few accent pieces to tie things together, and the Narro side table was an instant favorite when I saw it in the Fall/Winter collection. It has a Carrera marble base and is the perfect size for drinks, plants, or books! I love how versatile this piece is – it can easily float around the room wherever it’s needed.
