It’s been just over a month since we moved into Dove Hill Project, and right before I left for school I shot a few photos of the living room with some really stunning new rugs layered into the design. While the living room furniture is far from done (there is a lot of reupholstering I am planning) – the rugs were the perfect addition to the room to tie things together until I make decisions on new fabrics. I chose two colorways of Nourison’s Nashville rug by Calvin Klein, which are a beautiful wool flatweave and bring a nice contemporary graphic addition to the decor. The black and white contrast feels so fresh in the center of the seating arrangement, and the cobalt in the second rug pulls some blue into the other side of the room. Get all the details on the room design and some of my thoughts on the direction it’s heading below!
You will probably recognize a lot of the furniture in the room from our old living room, like the traditional armchairs. I also placed our TV right smack in the middle of the room – something we’ve never done before! You might remember my post introducing our Samsung Frame TV, a game-changer in home tech. With the birch frame on the TV and cohesive piece of art it really blends into the room seamlessly.
I love the jolt of blue brought to the window side of the room by the striped rug. Over here I’m planning on softening the window alcove with custom drapery, but I can’t decide whether to recover the chaise or not… any thoughts on this? It’s a wonderful Pierre Frey fabric, but the colorway is super warm, and fresh fabric might give the piece a much-needed update.
I just love the graphic quality of the Calvin Klein rug stripes with the older pieces in the room like my mom’s secretary desk. It brings so much energy to the room! I can’t wait to share more of this space as I refine the design.
